The energy transition begins with solar, wind and hydro generation. But it only happens when people, their routines and homes become part of it.
For decades, our relationship with energy was simple. We turned on the lights. We used our appliances. We paid the bill.
Today, that relationship is changing. Homes are no longer just consuming energy. Many are producing it through solar panels. Some are storing it. Others are charging electric vehicles. Every day, millions of small decisions are shaping how energy is used.
Most people do not wake up thinking about energy.
They think about their home, their family and their daily routines. Energy is simply one part of making those things work.
Which means the transition happens not when people become energy experts, but when better choices become easier to make. And this was the challenge EDP set out to solve.
Not by asking us to become energy experts. But by helping us choose differently. And that starts with conscious behaviour and decisions. Because the energy transition is both about becoming more sustainable while becoming more efficient.
These were some of the questions most families could not answer clearly or simply. Not because the information didn't exist. But because it had never been made simple enough to act on.
At the same time, expectations are also evolving. Energy is no longer seen as something to simply consume, but something to manage, as intuitively as banking or shopping.
This is where EDP steps in, simplifying complexity and bringing energy closer to everyday life.
That starts with a simple idea: a home should be understood as a whole.
Before the EDP app, customers managed different parts of their energy life through separate experiences. Energy. Solar. Mobility. Each in a different app. Each offering part of the picture. None could see the full picture of the home.
The new EDP app brought everything together into a single experience. One place to manage consumption, understand solar production, follow mobility and improve decisions with guidance.
This wasn't just a redesign of digital channels. It was the foundation for a new relationship between customers and energy.
By connecting every part of the home in one place, EDP could provide meaningful insights, relevant recommendations and greater transparency, helping customers make better decisions with confidence and peace of mind.
The Home experience transforms production, consumption and energy flows into something customers can immediately make sense of.
They can visualise how energy moves between solar panels, the home and the grid. They can see how weather conditions influence production in real time. They can identify the best moments to shift consumption or to maximise their solar energy.
The experience also highlights opportunities they may be missing, such as potential savings with solar panels or unusual consumption patterns.
The energy system becomes visible. And visible systems are easier to understand and act on.
Real-time visibility is just the beginning.
The consumption experience combines simple overviews with detailed analysis: from 15-minute consumption tracking to solar ecosystem analysis and electric vehicle monitoring.
The experience adapts to different levels of engagement. Some customers want quick answers. Others want complete control. Both find what they need.
Because energy data only becomes meaningful when it helps answer a real question.
The energy transition becomes real when customers can see its impact on what they pay.
The app automatically analyses whether contracted power and tariff are the best fit for each customer's consumption profile, surfacing better options when they exist.
It also helps customers track savings across multiple dimensions: solar production, benefits and services, and consumption efficiency.
Sometimes the most valuable recommendation is simply helping customers spend less, with transparency.
Seeing. Understanding. Saving. All of it becomes truly effortless when there is someone connecting the dots.
That someone is Eddy.
He appeared as a small circle of light, quiet, attentive, always learning. Observing patterns. Detecting what matters. Waiting for the moment to speak.
A subtle ring appears on a widget. A consumption anomaly. A savings opportunity. A solar optimisation. A product that could change how the home uses energy.
Tap it. Eddy has something to say.
With over 400 tips across efficiency, behaviour and energy services, Eddy becomes more useful with every interaction.
The more a customer uses the app, the more relevant every recommendation becomes.
Through the Energy Efficiency Journey, customers gradually describe their home: energy sources, appliances and habits. The more EDP knows about their home, the sharper Eddy becomes, moving from general guidance to advice built around each specific home.
And that precision changes things. Customers who go through the journey don't just use the app more. They engage differently with energy altogether.
Helping people make better energy decisions, with peace of mind.
In the first six months, more than 600,000 families started using the EDP app to understand their home, optimise their consumption and act with confidence.
Not because they care about energy in itself.
Because they care about their family, their routines and the home they live in.
And that is how the energy transition really happens.
Not through complexity or expertise. But through millions of small, conscious decisions made every day.
